Kim Jae-shin
Vice Chairman of the Fair Trade Commission
Kim Jae-shin was appointed as the vice chairman of the Fair Trade Commission in August. Kim, who graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with major in economics, started his career at FTC after passing the civil service exam in 1990. He received a master’s degree at KDI School of Public Policy and Management here and Michigan State University in the US, followed by a law doctorate from Chung-Ang University. Serving as the director general of competition policy bureau in 2018, he was in charge of drawing up a plan to overhaul the Fair Trade Act. While serving as secretary-general this year, he took the position of co-chairman of a joint public-private task force that creates guidelines for online platforms. Kim, a seasoned expert on policymaking on business practices, led various bureaus, including planning and coordination, business trade policy, cartel investigation.
